THE No bullshit PODCAST
REAL FINANCE TALK.
You’ve come to THE place to help you drive success in your finance career.
You’ve come to THE place to help you drive success in your finance career.
Why listen to my podcast?
At least four key reasons:
# 1. I relate fluently to my audience. I understand the issues and know the solutions because I’ve been there and done that.
# 2 I will not have bullshit or political correctness to the point where the essence is lost.
# 3 My background is uniquely varied. Hence, I understand multiple domains, beyond CFA and even beyond Finance.
# 4. There are tons of good podcasts on soft skills, how to invest and more, but none are as good on finance careers.
Hence, The Real Finance Mentor podcast.
So who am I?
Chartered Accountant. CFA charter holder. Corporate Warrior (accountant, auditor, analyst, finance director). Entrepreneur. Trainer. Mentor. Coach. Writer. Speaker. Mountaineer. Runner. Cyclist. Health and Fitness addict.. and more. I co-founded and built a brand from scratch before selling it to a well known multinational that’s the leader in its field.
But that’s just the CV. Far more crucially, I want to leave a big and lasting positive impact.
Many students and young finance professionals have similar problems. They often think that they are alone in this situation, are unable to think of solutions and end up being lost, listless and squander their potential.
I have noted a high level of engagement with my LinkedIn posts and also received many career-related enquiries from youngsters. There is a lot of confusion and a distinct lack of mentorship and guidance for ambitious people looking for a career in accounting or finance.
I develop content that is authentic and relatable by talking about my personal experiences (there’s a LOT!) and the narratives of others who have made it after a struggle. The Podcast is not just about issues but also practical solutions and hope.
Those who haven’t yet entered the workplace (or are already employed) have many questions; what job, what skills, what qualification, which company etc etc.
These aren’t the only factors that matter. They also need to know the ingredients for success, know how to navigate the many challenges in an increasingly volatile world while also grabbing the valuable opportunities throughout a long working life. In addition, they also need to learn the requirements for an extraordinary career.

Success is not just due to the right attitude. You need to have the right aptitude as well.
Self development is a push. It’s a struggle. It’s a challenge. It’s about understanding yourself and managing yourself so you can manage others. It’s also about knowing your gaps and trying to close those gaps. It’s about becoming better, not just in technical skills but the crucial “softer” skills such as communication, confidence, collaboration, creativity and curiosity. In a fiercely competitive world that is rapidly getting more complex thanks to AI, Fintech etc, it’s about getting the edge and staying ahead.
Most importantly, it’s about purpose and fulfillment.
How do you find the balance? Find out on RFM.
I have read books on everything you need to know to succeed in a finance career, ranging from investing to psychology and everything in between including emotional intelligence, behavioral finance, economic history, workplace trends etc.
What are my favorite books and the lessons I learnt from them? Find out on RFM.
On the RFM blog, you will find insightful articles on topics ranging from self-fulfillment to exam study tips and more.
Books are an important part of lifestyle. I have written brief reviews of quite a few informative, inspirational and intellectually entertaining books that will help in your career. There is a wide range including History, Biography, Travel, Economics, Management, Self Development (leadership, psychology, soft skills, etc) and Finance; take your pick!. To help you even further, I have given my own (very subjective!) rating for each book on a zero to ten scale with zero as crap and ten as brilliant! This is an expanding list as I read a lot.
